Title: Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.05%

Australia's stocks were higher on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Discretionary, and Consumer Staples areas drove shares higher.




At the nearby in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 acquired 0.05% to hit another untouched high.


The best entertainer of the meeting on the S&P/ASX 200 was Graincorp Ltd (ASX: GNC), which rose 11.70% or 0.64 focuses to exchange at 6.11 at the nearby. In the meantime, Qbe Insurance Group Ltd (ASX: QBE) added 8.12% or 0.940 focuses to end at 12.510 and Insurance Australia Group Ltd (ASX: IAG) was up 6.03% or 0.310 focuses to 5.450 in late exchange.


The most noticeably awful entertainers of the meeting were Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX: RIO), which fell 6.88% or 8.880 focuses to exchange at 120.260 at the nearby. AGL Energy Ltd (ASX: AGL) declined 5.53% or 0.42 focuses to end at 7.18 and Appen Ltd (ASX: APX) was down 4.87% or 0.60 focuses to 11.73.


Rising stocks dwarfed declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 743 to 623 and 415 finished unaltered.


Offers in Graincorp Ltd (ASX: GNC) rose to 52-week highs; rising 11.70% or 0.64 to 6.11. Offers in Qbe Insurance Group Ltd (ASX: QBE) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.12% or 0.940 to 12.510. AGL Energy Ltd (ASX: AGL) tumbled to record-breaking lows; falling 5.53% or 0.42 to 7.18.


The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which estimates the inferred unpredictability of S&P/ASX 200 choices, was down 3.54% to 11.173.
