The pair is trying to hold a firm fall below 1.0800 as sellers threaten to establish the next level down. So far today, the pair is little changed around 1.0780, with a fairly tight trading range of 25 pips between 1.0762 and 1.0787.

The downward pressure remains, as described here last week. And that will keep the euro in a rather uncertain position for now, unless there is a change in the inflation or ECB outlook.

The dollar is rather mixed, while it is up sharply against the yen: USD/JPY rises almost 1% to 128.20, whereas USD/CAD falls 0.3% to 1.2570 and AUD/USD rises 0.4% to 0.7380.
