Title: India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 0.38%

Indian stocks gained after the close on Friday as gains in the oil and gas, banking, and fast-moving consumer goods sectors drove stocks higher.
At the close on the NSE, the Nifty 50 was up 0.38 percent, while the BSE Sensex 30 index was up 0.24 percent.
Among the best performers on the Nifty 50 were Grasim Industries Ltd., which rose 4.48%, or 77.10 points, to trade at 1797.65 points at the close. Meanwhile, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd gained 4.14%, or 6.25 points, to close at 157.05, while Hindalco Industries Ltd gained 3.01%, or 14.40 points, to 493.50 in late trade.
Bajaj Finserv Ltd was the worst performer, falling 1.46%, or 262.90 points, to close at 17723.60 in late trade. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd fell 1.29%, or 10.85 points, to close at 829.00, and Bajaj Finance Ltd fell 1.15%, or 88.90 points, to 7659.35.
The top gainers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Asian Paints Ltd., up 1.79% at 3576.45, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., up 1.26% at 3854.85, and Nestle India Ltd., up 1.23% at 19888.75.
The worst performers were Bajaj Finserv Ltd, which fell 1.39% to 17736.00 in late trade, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, which lost 1.31% to close at 828.95 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd, which fell 1.06% to 1904.75 at the close of trade.
On the Indian National Stock Exchange, gains outweighed losses at 1012 to 777 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2022 shares rose and 1276 declined while 79 ended unchanged.
Asian Paints Ltd shares rose to an all-time high, gaining 1.79%, or 62.75, to 3576.45.
India's VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 2.09% to 17.6025.
