Title: India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.00%

Indian stocks were lower after the close on Thursday as losses in the real estate, IT, and technology sectors led shares lower.


At the close on the NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.00 percent, while the BSE Sensex 30 index lost 1.03 percent.


Among the best performers on the Nifty 50 was UPL Ltd, which rose 2.39% or 18.25 points to trade at 782.75 points at the close. Meanwhile, IndusInd Bank Ltd gained 1.96%, or 17.75 points, to close at 921.70, while Bajaj Auto Ltd gained 1.78%, or 59.65 points, to 3418.20 in late trade.


JSW Steel Ltd was the worst performer, falling 2.96%, or 20.55 points, to close at 673.95 in late trade. UltraTech Cement Ltd fell 2.62%, or 201.00 points, to close at 7458.55 and Tech Mahindra Ltd fell 2.62%, or 45.45 points, to 1692.10.


The top gainers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd, up 1.74% at 919.65, Bharti Airtel Ltd, up 1.46% at 710.25, and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, up 1.36% at 7879.10.

Tech Mahindra Ltd was the worst performer, falling 2.56% to 1691.65 in late trade. UltraTech Cement Ltd lost 2.49% to close at 7464.60 and Reliance Industries Ltd lost 2.01% to 2416.60 at the close.


On the Indian National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outweighed falling ones by 956 to 829, and 34 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1930 stocks rose while 1341 fell and 87 ended unchanged.


The Indian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, rose 4.35% to 17.9775.
