Title: India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.31%

Indian stocks were lower after the close on Friday as losses in the IT, technology, and consumer durable sectors led stocks to lower.


At the close on the NSE, the Nifty 50 was down 1.31%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index was down 1.31%.


Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. had the best performance on the Nifty 50 today, gaining 1.79%, or 2.15 points, to close at 122.10. IndusInd Bank Ltd. gained 1.03%, or 10.05 points, to close at 982.40, while Tata Steel Ltd. gained 0.49%, or 6.10 points, to close at 1254.45 in late trade.


Grasim Industries Ltd was the worst performer, falling 3.30% or 58.40 points to close at 1710.15 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Ltd fell 2.97 percent or 43.60 points to close at 1424.90, while Infosys Ltd slipped 2.73 percent or 48.25 points to 1721.35.


The top gainers on the BSE Sensex 30 were IndusInd Bank Ltd., up 0.94% at 981.95, Tata Steel Ltd., up 0.52% at 1254.75, and NTPC Ltd., up 0.51% at 137.10.


Tech Mahindra Ltd was the worst performer, down 2.94% to 1424.35 in late trade, Infosys Ltd down 2.71% to 1721.00, and UltraTech Cement Ltd down 2.16% to 7310.00 at the close.


On the Indian National Stock Exchange, losses outweighed gains at 1429 to 374, and 23 ended unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2289 shares fell, 917 roses, and 98 ended the trading session unchanged.


The Indian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, rose 5.48% to 18.6800.
