Title: India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 1.65%

Indian stocks were down after the close on Monday as losses in the IT, technology, and healthcare sectors led stocks lower.


At the close on the NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.65% to a fresh 3-month low, while the BSE Sensex 30 index slipped 1.65%.


Among the best performers on the Nifty 50 were UPL Ltd, which rose 0.44%, or 3.15 points, to close at 715.90. In late trade, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd fell 0.10 per cent or 2.85 points to close at 2768.80, while Eicher Motors Ltd fell 0.23 per cent or 5.55 points to close at 2450.


Coal India Ltd was the worst performer, falling 7.01%, or 11.20 points, to close at 148.55. IndusInd Bank Ltd fell 3.73%, or 35.50 points, to close at 915.65 and Tata Consumer Products Ltd fell 3.45%, or 26.70 points, to 747.60.


The best performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd., down 0.40% at 2760.00, HDFC Bank Ltd., down 0.51% at 1505.40, and Tata Steel Ltd., down 0.80% to close at 1109.05.


The worst performers were IndusInd Bank Ltd, which fell 3.75% to 915.55 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd, which lost 3.43% to close at 16894.80 and Bharti Airtel Ltd, which lost 2.96% to 697.10.


On the Indian National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outweighed rising ones by 1239 to 557, and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1934 fell and 1394 rose, while 176 ended unchanged.


The Indian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, rose 8.75% to 20.0775.
