Inflation in Ukraine rose to 16.4% year-on-year in April from 13.7% in March, the State Statistics Service announced Tuesday, citing a sharp increase in food and energy prices following Russia's invasion as the main reason.

According to the report, food was 23.1% more expensive than in April last year, while gasoline and diesel fuel prices rose 29.6% in the same period.

Ukraine's central bank expects inflation could double from 10% in 2021 to around 20% in 2022.
