Title: Japan stocks higher at the close of trade; Nikkei 225 up 0.13%

Japanese stocks rose after the close on Tuesday as gains in the pulp and paper, railways and buses, and real estate sectors drove stocks higher.


At the close of trading in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 was up 0.13%.


Among the best performers on the Nikkei 225 was Ricoh Co., Ltd., which rose 7.23%, or 71.0 points, to close at 1053.0. In late trade, Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. gained 6.56%, or 210.0 points, to close at 3410.6, while Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. added 6.24%, or 420.0 points, to 7150.0 in late trade.


DIC Corp. was the worst performer, falling 10.08%, or 302.0 points, to close at 2695.0 in late trade. Olympus Corp. fell 7.20% or 163.0 points to 2100.0 and Denka Co., Ltd. dropped 5.50% or 200.0 points to 3435.0.


On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, rising stocks outweighed falling ones by 1810 to 1736, and 223 ended unchanged.


Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged at 0% to 24.20.


Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.62%, or $0.57, to $90.75 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodity trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.73%, or $0.68, to $92.01 a barrel, while the April gold futures contract fell 0.22%, or $4.05, to settle at $1817.75 a troy ounce.


The USD/JPY rose 0.34% to 115.51, while the EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 131.66.

Futures on the US dollar index rose 0.35% to 95.722.
