Title: Japan stocks lower at close of trade; Nikkei 225 down 0.43%

Japanese stocks declined after Friday's close, as losses in the Precision Instruments, Non-Metallic Minerals, and Energy sectors led stock declines.


At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.43%.


The session's top performers on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035), which rose 4.60% or 1,690.00 points to trade at 38,390.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co (TYO:7735) added 2.19% or 170.00 points to end at 7,920.00 and Advantest Corp (TYO:6857) rose 1.86% or 130.00 points to trade at 7,130.00 in late trading.


The worst performers of the session were Credit Saison Co (TYO:8253), which fell 3.39% or 55.00 points to trade at 1,568.00 at the close. TYO:9007 was down 3.15% or 60.00 points to end at 1,842.00 and Keio Corp (TYO:9008) was down 3.14% or 170.00 points to 5,240.00.


Falling stocks outnumbered advancers on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2426 to 1031, and 294 ended unchanged.


Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, fell 2.57% to 22.79.


Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.25%, or $0.21, to $84.30 per barrel. In commodities, Brent crude oil for December delivery fell 0.24%, or $0.22, to settle at $92.16 a barrel, while the December gold futures contract fell 0.47%, or $7.75, to trade at $1,629.05 a troy ounce.


USD/JPY increased by 0.17% to 150.40, while EUR/JPY increased by 0.32% to 147.35.


The dollar index futures fell 0.08% to 112.73.
