Title: Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.25%

Australian shares rose after the close on Monday, as gains in the industrial, IT, and gold sectors drove the shares up.


At the close in Sydney, the S & P/ASX 200 rose 0.25%.


Brambles Ltd, up 11.22% or 1.17 points to close at 11.60 on the S&P/ASX 200, was the session's best performer. 5.76%, or 0.16 points, to close at 2.94, and Pilbara Minerals Ltd rose 5.26%, or 0.13 points, to 2.60 in late trading.


Zip Co Ltd was the worst performer, dropping 4.04% or 0.04 points to close at 0.95. Polynovo Ltd dropped 3.85%, or 0.05 points, to 1.25, while Magellan Financial Group Ltd dropped 3.55%, or 0.56 points, to 15.23.


On the Sydney Stock Exchange, rising stocks outweighed falling ones by 760 to 682, and 376 ended unchanged.


The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures implied volatility in S&P/ASX 200 options, fell 0.62% to 18.37.


Gold futures for June delivery fell 0.83%, or 14.95, to $1,793.25 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for July delivery fell 0.87%, or 0.94, to $107.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.17%, or 1.31, to $110.24 a barrel.


The AUD/USD was unchanged at 0.69, while the AUD/JPY fell 0.51% to 89.18.


US dollar index futures fell 0.08% to 104.544.
