Title: Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.52%

Australian stocks rose after the close on Wednesday, with gains in the energy, information technology, and resources sectors driving shares higher.


The S&P/ASX 200 index was up 0.52 percent at the close of the Sydney Bourse.


Wisetech Global Ltd, which rose 12.77% or 6.77 points to close at 59.77 points in the S&P/ASX 200, was the best performing company for the session. In late trade, Iluka Resources Ltd added 9.84% or 0.93 points to close at 10.38 points and Pointsbet Holdings Ltd rose 8.70% or 0.28 points to close at 3.50 points in late trade.


The worst performer of the session was EML Payments Ltd, which dropped 10.55%, or 0.11 points, to trade at 0.89 at the close. Nanosonics Ltd fell 5.56%, or 0.26 points, to 4.42 points, and Adbri Ltd declined 4.76%, or 0.11 points, to 2.20 points.


On the Sydney Stock Exchange, advancing shares outnumbered decliners by 761 to 577, while 413 ended unchanged.


Shares of EML Payments Ltd fell 10.55 percent, or 0.11 point, to 0.89 point, a 5-year low. Shares of Adbri Ltd fell to a 52-week low by 4.76%, or 0.11 points, to 2.20.


The S&P/ASX 200 VIX Index fell 2.36% to 13.96, measuring the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options.


Gold futures for December fell 0.17 percent, or $2.95, to $1, a758.25 per ounce.


Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for October delivery rose 0.66%, or $0.62, to $94.36 a barrel, while the October Brent contract rose 0.59%, or $0.59, to trade at $100.81 a barrel.


AUD/USD was unchanged by 0.20% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY fell 0.30% to 94.51.


The US dollar index futures rose 0.04% to 108.59.
