Title: Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 1.11%

Australian shares rose after the close on Monday, as gains in the energy, gold, and A-REIT sectors led shares higher.


At the close of trading in Sydney, the S & P/ASX 200 gained 1.11%.


Among the best performers on the S & P/ASX 200 were Austal Ltd, which rose 5.78%, or 0.13 points, to close at 2.38. In late trading, Ingenia Communities Group gained 5.32%, or 0.21 points, to close at 4.16, while Mesoblast Ltd rose 5.15%, or 0.04 points, to 0.71 in late trading.


Magellan Financial Group Ltd. was the worst performer, falling 9.92% or 1.29 points to close at 11.71.

Pointsbet Holdings Ltd. fell 6.25%, or 0.18 points, to close at 2.70, and Skycity Entertainment Group Ltd. dropped 5.66%, or 0.15 points, to 2.50.


On the Sydney Stock Exchange, advancers outweighed decliners by 910 shares to 426, and 349 ended unchanged.


Shares of Magellan Financial Group, Ltd. fell to a 5-year low, dropping 9.92%, or 1.29, to 11.71.


The VIX of the S&P/ASX 200, which measures implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, fell 0.10% to 18.95.


The AUD/USD was unchanged at 0.69, while the AUD/JPY rose 0.80% to 92.86.


The US Dollar Index futures fell 0.07% to 104.84
