Title: Australia stocks lower at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 down 0.54%

Australian stocks fell after the close on Friday, with losses in the A-REITs, IT and gold sectors leading shares lower.


At the close of the Sydney session, the S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.54 percent.


The best performer during the session was the S&P/ASX 200 index, which rose 3.74%, or 1.18 points, to close at 32.77. Meanwhile, Resolute Mining Ltd. added 3.51%, or 0.01 points, to close at 0.29, and Perenti Global Ltd. rose 3.47%, or 0.03 points, to close at 0.75 in late trade.


Nanosonics Ltd. was the worst performer during the session, falling 6.43 percent, or 0.33 points, to close at 4.80. Pointsbet Holdings Ltd fell 6.32% or 0.24 points to 3.56 and Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd dropped 6.01% or 4.43 points to 69.31.


On the Sydney Stock Exchange, declining shares outnumbered advancing ones by 767 to 610, while 377 ended unchanged.


The S&P/ASX 200 VIX index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, increased 1.92 percent to 13.97 points.


Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.20 percent, or $3.65 per ounce, to $1,803.55. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for September delivery rose 0.11%, or $0.10, to $94.44 a barrel, while the October Brent contract rose 0.29%, or $0.29, to trade at $99.89 a barrel.


The AUD/USD rate was unchanged at 0.71, while the AUD/JPY rate rose 0.49% to 94.96.


Futures on the US dollar index rose 0.17% to 105.17.
